General information

Think O Local is a community platform that connects Local Leaders to travellers to provide authentic and local activities.

1 – Find

You’ll be surprised by what our Local Leaders have in store for you. Select your activity according to your availability, type of activity or destination.

2- Book

Plan your tailor-made program then confirm your booking on the Local Leader’s page by selecting the date, timeslot and number of participants. The Local Leader may request a validation deadline of maximum 24 hours, then proceed to the payment via our secure platform.

3- Travel

Just enjoy your trip, we are ready for you. From this stage on, you can talk to your Local Leader to finetune the final details of your activity, such as the meeting place and/or requesting more information.

4- Share

Share your experience, others will want to experience it too. Your Local Leader will receive payment for the activity once it has ended and you have given it a review. The Think O Local community offers quality products. The community relies heavily on your commitment to sharing your feelings and level of satisfaction. So, please don’t think twice about sharing your views on the activity and your Local Leader, as other travellers will be happy to read your review and try it out too.

The traveller is an adventure enthusiast, who especially loves authentic experiences. S/he likes meeting Local Leaders to discover authentic and sometimes unique experiences. Whether it is far away or closer to home.

Local Leaders may be able to accommodate groups for certain activities. An activity may therefore be suitable for corporate staff members. Please contact Think O Local for a tailor-made offer, so that we can endeavour to meet your Team Building project requirements.

For travellers

The traveller is an adventure enthusiast, who especially loves authentic experiences. S/he likes meeting Local Leaders to discover authentic and sometimes unique experiences. Whether it is far away or closer to home.

For people who like organising their trips.

For people who want to discover a region or their own region. 

For people who are seeking authentic experiences.

You can register with a valid email or with your Facebook account.

If you register with an email address, you must choose a secure password with:

  • At least 12 characters
  • a capital letter
  • a number
  • a special character

Find an activity in the search bar on the homepage or on the select an activity page.

Once you have selected an activity

  • Please select one of the dates available on the booking calendar
  • Please select one of the available timeslots 
  • Please select the number of participants
  • Book
  • Wait for the reception of validation from the Local Leader (maximum 24 hours)
  • Proceed to payement
  • You have 48 hours to make the payment, otherwise, the Local Leader reserves the right to cancel the booking

Cancellation by the Local Leader

The Local Leader has 24 hours to confirm a booking request. If the Local Leader declines a booking request or does not respond within this timeframe, the booking will be cancelled, and no payment will be taken.

If the Local Leader cancels an activity booking, the traveller will be fully reimbursed.

CANCELLATION BY THE TRAVELLER

The traveller who books an activity may cancel the booking at any time, providing that it has not been confirmed and validated by the Local Leader by email. In this case, the traveller is fully reimbursed.

When the activity is cancelled more than 72 hours before the activity is due to take place the traveller will be partially reimbursed.

When the activity is cancelled less than 72 hours prior to the start of the activity, the traveller will not be reimbursed and the Local Leader will be paid in full.

CANCELLATION FOR ANY OTHER REASON

Some activities, for reasons beyond our control, notably those that are held outside, may be cancelled at any time due to poor weather conditions, even on the day the activity is due to take place.

In this case, the Local Leader will immediately inform the user who booked the activity, as well as Think O Local via the internal messaging system and/or by email.

The Local Leader will suggest another suitable date or failing agreement will have to submit a compensation proposal and may involve Think O Local to settle any claims.

Once you have completed your activity, you can then review the service as a whole with marks ranging from one to four stars, you may also comment and share your experience. You can share your experience on our Facebook page

The internal messaging system allows you to contact your Local Leader.

It is available once the activity booking is fully paid.

You can use it to finetune the final details of your activity.

For local leaders

The Local Leader may be a professional guide, artisan, craftsman, artist or sports instructor. But above all s/he likes sharing with others, passing on know-how or knowledge.

The Local Leader is a professional and/or enthusiast who likes sharing and offers services from one of the nine main activity categories:

  • Sports activities
  • Local produce and gastronomy
  • Art & Culture
  • Crafts
  • Nature
  • Urban strolls
  • Experiences
  • Unique discoveries
  • Heritage

Registration to be a Local Leader is free-of-charge. Subscription is not compulsory.

There are two stages for registration: 

  • Registration request with a valid email. You may not register with a Facebook account.
  • Registration confirmation, this automatically creates a connected Stripe Connect account, which will then be used for receiving and transferring payments to your bank account.

You must choose a secure password with:

  • At least 12 characters
  • a capital letter
  • a number
  • a special character

In the final registration stage, the following documents will be requested:

  • Bank details
  • ID Card
  • Professional Certification (for regulated activities)

This contractual document must be validated at the end of the final registration to become a Local Leader.

It covers all Local Leader rights and obligations regarding: 

  • Compliance with values.
  • Compliance with legal obligations for activities on offer.
  • Think O Local commission rates for activities on offer.

The Local Leader must prove his/her right to exercise any activity regulated by law.

The Local Leader must have professional insurance for his/her professional activity and if it is compulsory by the law, be able to prove that s/he has professional insurance to cover risks relating to undertaking the activities on offer on thinkolocal.com

In any other situation and in all circumstances, the Local Leader must be covered by adequate insurance cover, as well as the people s/he accompanies as part of the activity.

As a professional or non-professional, income generated from Think O Local must be processed according to the tax authorities’ dispositions and the fiscal residence of the Local Leader.

Activities may be created in the activity management tab on the dashboard. Each activity must include the following:  

  • A short description of the activity 
  • A text
  • One or several photos
  • Price of the activity
  • Booking calendar
  • Timeslots
  • Managing the booking calendar according to the Local Leader’s availability/unavailability and booked activities

Once the activity has been created, it must be submitted to Think O Local for approval.

The price of an activity must include the following details: 

  • Taxes
    • Taxes and duties
    • VAT
  • All costs
    • Rental of equipment and miscellaneous:
    • Raw materials
    • Transportation
    • Entrance and dues on site

The price displayed is per person and not an hourly rate.

The Local Leader may indicate a minimum general price, below which the activity shopping basket will not be confirmed.

It is possible to allow certain groups of people to participate free-of-charge (for example children or a specific age group)

The Internal Messaging system allows the Local Leader to communicate with the traveller once the activity booking is paid in full. You can then adjust certain details before your service is provided.

Secure payment

The price of an activity per person is set by the Local Leader and includes the following details:

– The basic activity price

– Think O Local Commission charged to the Local Leader (transparent for the traveller)

– Local taxes (e.g. VAT)

Think O Local uses the Stripe Connect payment solution to ensure secure transactions.

Please find details below about how activities are paid for:

– The traveller books and pays for his/her activity on Think O Local.

– The payment is put on hold on a Stripe Connect account until the activity has been completed and reviewed.

– Local Leaders may receive payments via a bank transfer from his/her Think O Local account.

When the Local Leader finalises his/her final registration, the Think O Local platform creates a connected Stripe account to allow payments to be received via the Stripe Connect platform.

Payment will be debited once the service has been completed.

Yes, payments for bookings are carried out on the Stripe payment platform.

Stripe accepts most payment cards.

LOCAL LEADER: RECEIVING A PAYMENT

Once the activity has been completed, payment will be credited to the Local Leader’s connected Stripe account.

Think O Local charges the Local Leader commission, which is included in the total amount requested from the traveller. The commission is debited when the Local Leader receives payment for the activity.  This commission is transparent for the traveller.

The Local Leader transfers funds from their Stripe connected account to their bank account via their own account on thinkolocal.com.

S/he may choose from three transfer frequencies:

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly

However, Stripe must transfer funds held for over 90 days. 

CANCELLATION POLICY

The Local Leader has 24 hours to confirm a booking request. If the Local Leader declines a booking request or does not respond within this timeframe, the booking will be cancelled, and no payment will be taken. If the Local Leader cancels an activity booking, the traveller will be fully reimbursed.

SHARING AND COMMENTS

Think O Local is a community platform, which means that experiences must be shared, so that others can experience them too.

Experiences may also be shared on our Facebook page

The traveller is requested to review their Local Leader, his/her activity and how it was performed with marks ranging from one to five stars, as well as sharing and commenting the experience. This comment will be displayed on the activity’s page.

The review provides the Local Leader with visibility and is displayed on his/her page.

Reviews and comments are not compulsory and may not influence or cancel payment for the service in any way.
